One random thing I learned at the ROM on Sunday: The weekend was born sometime during the 1870’s. During that time, people worked 6 days of the week and only had Sunday’s off. The men worked for 10-12 hours per day while women worked 12-14 hours. Several companies noticed that the number of people showing up late for work on Mondays was increasing and so they started to let employees out early on Saturdays and hence the weekend was born.
Interesting huh?
