I was listening to my iPod while working and this song came on and I couldn't help but feel somewhat nostalgic. It's so true, we often fail to look at the blessings and positive things that surround us despite our difficulties. Our tendency is to always want to move forward, always eager to take the next step and failing to be grateful to just be in the moment. I think this song is just a good reminder to cherish the present as much as we can even though times may be tough.

I recently came across a new TV series called Vampire Diaries. I have only seen two episodes so far and I haven't really decided on whether I like it or not but I am intrigued. Paul Wesley who plays Stefan Salvatore is absolutely heart-melting.

Anyhoo, whenever there's a scene between Stefan and Elena, this beautiful song is playing in the background. It's the same song that was playing on So You Think You Can Dance for the "Addiction" routine that was choreographed by Mia Michaels (I think?). I downloaded it on to my iPod and I just can't stop listening to it. Sara sings it so beautifully.

I didn't get a chance to watch the memorial for Michael Jackson yesterday because I was at work and last night we weren't home to see the recap. So this morning I looked for some clips on MSNBC as well as YouTube. I have always been somewhat curious of the relationship between Michael and his children so I was glad to see some pictures and home videos. He seems like a lovely father based on what I just saw. I feel sorry for the kids because no child should ever lose a parent especially at such a young age. I think that despite Michael's quirks, he really loved his children and did his best to protect them from the prying eyes of the public. I think that despite the fame that surrounded him and all the crazy antics, he did what he could and gave them the best of him.

In the videos I saw, You Are My Life was playing in the background and I couldn't help but get teary-eyed. It is a beautiful song.

I would never dare listen to it in the car with someone else present though... they just wouldn’t understand.

Yes, remember the Levis Ad where they had this clay man wearing Levis jeans and he zip lines from the top of his building to rescue the lady in the burning building using his jeans? I think that’s where this Shaggy song became so popular. Anyhoodle, I have it in my iTunes library because I think Mr. Levis is HOT. Hahahaha! Kidding! I just like the song really... funky and funny at the same time.

Liquid Dreams by O-Town - Okay, I don’t really remember any other O-Town song although I’m sure there are others. The only one that stands out is this one (obviously if it’s the only one I can remember!). I remember thinking to myself back then, what’s up with the title? Then after listening to the lyrics I went, “oohhh.. ew...” hahahaha! But I like the song anyway.

My mom absolutely loves this song and a part of me thinks that I downloaded it because it reminds me of how her face lights up every time she hears it. She always bobs her head in a cute, funny way.

What's New Pussycat by Tom Jones - Okay, I honestly do not know how this song got into my iTunes library to begin with. I am guessing I had copied it from a CD together with other songs that I actually like. It’s so annoying too because during the odd times it ends up playing on my iPod, it gets stuck in my head and I get a really bad case of LSS (Last Song Syndrome). I tell you, it’s bad spending your afternoon hearing Tom Jones sing “What’s new pussycat? Ohhhh ohhhh..” over and over and over again.

You’re probably wondering, why don’t I just remove it? Because my dears, it’s still a classic song! Hahahaha!

Music Is My Hot, Hot Sex by CSS - The only reason this song made it to my library is from a TV commercial (yes, as you may have noticed I have a bad habit of picking up songs from TV commercials... I actually have a bunch of them on my iPod). I don’t even really like it. I think I liked it for a few minutes after I downloaded it and then that was it. It’s just one of those songs where if I happened to be listening to it, I really hope no one asks me what I’m listening to. It’s just really uncomfortable having to respond with, “Music is my hot, hot sex”.

Oh! Carol by Neil Sedaka - Huh. I didn’t even know I had this. You know what it reminds me of? Driving to church on Sunday mornings. While we lived in the Philippines, we used to tune into this radio station (I forgot which one it was) and they would play oldies like this one. We used to like it so much that it almost became a family tradition. I can just picture my boss’ expression if I ever played this song out loud at work... hahahaha! He’d be like, WTF?

I just found out (courtesy of White’s post) that Francis Magalona succumbed to leukemia. He was just 44 years old. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

When we went to Mexico last month, I kept hearing this one particular Spanish/Latin song but since I couldn’t understand any of the lyrics, I couldn’t figure out what the title was. I even heard it play at the Disco in the resort we stayed in but I thought it might have seemed odd to ask the Deejay.

Since I developed a liking for this particular song, I wanted to download it. Unfortunately, I didn’t know the title and I couldn’t search for it in Google using the lyrics because they’re in Spanish! I had gotten a little desperate so I would regularly open iTunes, enter a variety of keywords in the search box and I would pre-listen to every song in the search result to try and find it. I have found several nice Spanish/Latin songs since then, which I have downloaded and put in my iPod but I couldn’t find the one song I wanted.

So finally last night, while doing my usual song-browsing, I stumbled upon an album containing the “Best Latin Songs” and it was among the songs in the list! I was so thrilled! I immediately pushed “BUY” and it was so funny too because I only had a dollar left in my iTunes card… just enough to purchase that one song.

What was it? It’s entitled La Vida Es Un Carnaval by Isaac Delgado. Yay!

It’s so true… we all rush through our years, wishing that we were older and better and we often forget to just enjoy the time we have and where we are currently in our lives. We are so focused on the future that we forget to enjoy the present. I am soooo guilty of this. I am sitting at my desk at work, listening to an F4 song.

Oo, F4… as in the gwapings of Meteor Garden.

I have my iPod hooked to a pair of speakers but I’m playing it really low so that it doesn’t disturb anyone else. And partly because it’s kinda embarrassing to be caught listening to music in a language I don’t understand. I don’t think a lot of people will be able to comprehend how I can like a song even though I can’t understand any of it. To be honest, I don’t even know if I like the song because of how it sounds or if I like it because it reminds me of F4 or the fact that they performed it. I think it’s a little bit of everything. One thing’s for sure, it’s not due to the message of the song. Heck, I don’t know what they’re saying!

Satin-satin lang ‘to ha? I actually own a few F4 concert DVDs. Baduy na kung baduy pero I really liked them… I still like them… I’m just not as obsessed with them like I used to be back when Meteor Garden was still the biggest thing on TV. In fact, I still have Dao Ming Si’s picture in one of my wallets and rolled up poster of him in a corner of my bedroom. The picture in my wallet is actually a mini calendar with his picture on the other side… you know, the one that Bench gave for free if you bought a shirt. No, I don’t look at his picture before I go to bed… I don’t look at his picture at all… I never did. I don’t even know why I kept him in my wallet. Siguro para cool. Hahahaha! At yung poster, bigay lang sakin ni mama.

I remember Studio 23 playing F4 music videos and I even knew some of the words! Kala mo naman naiintindihan ko… I can’t help but wonder, kung may Taiwanese kayang makarinig saking kumanta ng F4 song, would I make sense?

When I think about it, my F4 obsession could have been blackmail material. Nakakahiya… Until now, my brothers still make fun of me. Di ako tinablahan ng mass appeal ng Boyzone, Take That, Backstreet Boys… ay, konti lang sa Backstreet Boys.. pero pagdating sa F4, patok na patok sakin. Ang weird talaga ng buhay… o baka naman weird lang ako.

A basta, gusto ko sila.

Presenting... Girlicious!

Yes… believe it or not, I actually watched this show.

At first, I had no intentions of watching it because I thought it would be really corny and that it was going to be so much like the Search for the Next Pussycat Doll except worse. I mean, just look at the name of the group! Girlicious?! It’s not even a word! But Steve’s sister always watches it and since I spend so much time at their house, I ended up watching it too. The thing is, if I watch a show too often, I end up getting hooked and before I know it, I’m re-arranging my evenings just so I can follow each episode.

I have to say though that women who don’t know each other, when put in a house together, always spells trouble. Look at America’s Next Top Model, The Bachelor, The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll, Big Brother, and Girlicious just to name a few. Steve can’t help but laugh in the event of a cat fight. I can’t help but laugh either! These women fight at the most mundane and childish things. I always say it’s easier to maintain friendships with men than with women. At least men don’t take everything personally and they have a knack for letting things go in one ear and out the other.

Steve, his sister and I were always making bets on who was going to get eliminated and who were going to make it to the group. Steve wins the bet most of the time since he notices little things on the commercials showing previews of the following episode. He’ll say something like, “Carrie gets eliminated next week!” and I go, “How do you know?” and to which he’ll reply with, “Oh, because they showed the preview for next week and what gave it away was that they were showing the girls practicing and only Carrie was missing…” Surely enough, the girl he says gets eliminated, does get eliminated.

I had a hunch that Nicole and Tiffany would make it to the group. I just wasn’t sure who the third person would be. I really didn’t want Natalie to win because her ego was over the roof already.. I could only imagine what a diva she would turn into if she won. Chrystina was ok but she doesn’t handle pressure very well so I had my doubts about her. Charlye had the talent and she performs really well but she just couldn’t get along with all the other girls. Right before the finale, Steve said that 4 girls would win…again he knew because he said the preview gave it away. He suspected Charlye would get eliminated and he was right! In a way I was surprised that 4 made it to the group instead of 3 but then again I also wasn’t so surprised. Looks like Chrystina and Natalie would remain BFFs after all! LOL

I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. I really wanted Nicole and Tiffany to win regardless of whom else made it to the group. Chrystina did an awesome performance for Heart’s What About Love… Steve and I thought she actually sounded better than the original.

Steve and I rented August Rush last night and although the movie is completely unrealistic and really cheesy, I still enjoyed it. Ako pa, I'm a certified chick flick fan. Although I am not too familiar with Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I loved him and Kerri Russell in the movie. I've always liked Kerri Russell though.. she was great in Felicity and I think she's really beautiful. Maybe not as stunning as other actresses but she's beautiful in her own way and she looks great everytime she attends an awards show. I can't believe she's a mom now and I have to say she looks amazing for a mom.
